The Walter WA-2000 is a gas operated semi automatic sniper rifle with rotating bolt. It has no open sights, instead opting for a quick-detachable scope mount. Most common optical sight was a Schmidt & Bender 2.5-10X variable power telescope. The Walther WA2000 represents a revolution in sniper weapon design. All stock furniture is fully adjustable and when firing the 7.62x67 mm/.300 Winchester Magnum and using the schmidt and bender x2.5 to x10 sight, the rifles accuracy is considerable, but due to its sophistication and high price tag, it is not suitable for arduous militray use.

The gun is built in the bullpup style, to achieve most compact package while maintaining suitably long barrels. Basic chambering was .300 Winchester Magnum, with effective range well beyond 800 meters, with optional chamberings for 7.62mm NATO (.308 win) and 7.5mm Swiss.
